Ghost in the Shell: An Analysis of Its Important Characters

Series Background

For those of you who haven’t yet watched or read any of the episodes/installments of Ghost in the Shell series, here’s a bit about its background.

Ghost in the Shell is a Japanese anime and manga franchise, which is the work of the popular manga artist named Masamune Shirow.

Its movie editions were created by filmmakers Kenji Kamiyama and Mamoru Oshii, with the backing of popular anime studio and production house Production I.G. The series started publishing in the form of a seinen manga starting 1989 and later got compiled into several tankobon volumes by Kodansha, before being adapted into TV series, movies, original video animations (OVAs) and video games.
